Please read these IMPORTANT tips before you make your requests.

CHANGE FOR THE 2018-2019 ACADEMIC YEAR

• We will be taking fall and spring requests separately this year.
• The fall calendar is now open for you to make requests. We are keeping the spring calendar blocked off until November, so everything is going to show up as “unavailable” for the spring for now. 
• We will open up the spring calendar in November for you to place your kit requests.
• We are making this change for a few reasons. One reason is to give teachers that don’t know about Navigators in the fall, a greater opportunity to make requests in the spring.

CULTURE KIT FAQS AND TIPS

• Choose from 180 different kits that include 136 different countries or themes
• Any public, private, or home school educator in NC can reserve a kit. Community members, and students in NC can also reserve kits. We do not ship kits out of the state.

• Shipping both ways is on us, and FREE for you!

• If you are local, we would appreciate if you could pick up your kits from our office if possible. With our small budget, this will allow us to send more kits to teachers that are not local.

• LOG IN every time you make a request (you can create a FREE account) so that you can easily keep track of all your requests.

• There is an email verification step when you create an account, so you must check your email to verify, before you can log in the first time.

• Once logged in, go to “profile” to enter your “saved information” to avoid re-entering your school information every time you request a kit.

• The first date that you can receive a kit will be September 10, 2018. (scroll forward on the calendar to see availability).

• Click on “AVAILABILITY” near the kit you would like, even if it says “UNAVAILABLE”, to scroll through the calendar to find available dates.

• Kits must be reserved at least 2 weeks in advance (last year we had around 960 requests!)

• Kits can be reserved for periods of time between EXACTLY 2-4 weeks.

• Each educator can reserve a maximum of 6 culture kits per academic year.

• We prefer that you only reserve 1-2 kits at a time, unless you have a special event.

• Your kit should arrive at your school the first day of your request, and you should drop your kit at the nearest FedEx drop-off location 2-5 days before your kit is due to us.

• Kits are sent out according to the UNC student calendar, as UNC student interns send kits out, and check them in.

• Open up your kit box as soon as it arrives, to maximize the time you and your students have with the kit!
