Kit Contents & Lesson Ideas
Hello! My name is Liam, and I am a graduate student at UNC Chapel Hill. I am 23 years old and I have been learning how to speak Russian for the last six years. I study politics and governments, and I write papers about how the government in Russia works and interacts with the people who live there. I visited Russia for the first time in 2016, and studied there from January until May. It was really cold, but I loved it. Russians are really fun people who love to make new friends, so I felt right at home despite the different weather. I liked it so much that I went back in 2018, this time from June until August. I studied Russian at the college downtown in Saint Petersburg, and I lived with a host family of Russians who were amazing hosts. Russians love to talk with foreigners about other countries, so the three of us had great talks about news and politics every day. I was able to participate in some great cultural activities, like cooking Russian soup and dessert, learning how to ballroom dance like an old Russian prince, and even took a trip to Moscow to see the Kremlin, where the Russian Czars lived. I bought these items from Russia for this kit so that Americans might be able to learn more about this fun country. I loved my time there and I can’t wait to go back.
