Hello. My name is MinHwi, who is currently majoring in Economics, but thinking to double major in Global studies. I was born in Incheon, which is located right next to Seoul. I have spent most of my life in there, but I decided to study in the U.S. when I was 18 years old. One of my relatives recommended studying in the U.S. since I was thinking to major in Journalism, which requires English skills even in Korea. As my mother loves traveling all over the world, I have traveled with her because I have thought traveling was one of the best ways to learn about different cultures and to widen my outlook on life.

Although I have been in China and Japan, I could only see some differences since East Asian countries share similar culture. I could even experience their original food in Korea, so what I only noticed as a difference was language. However, traveling in New Zealand and Australia has changed my life to decide to study abroad since I could experience living in southern hemisphere. Season was totally different between there and Korea because of regional difference. This experience was the most interesting in my life and I started to have an interest in traveling all over the world same as my mother.

Before I was interested in traveling, I usually never thought about Korean culture because that was the natural culture that I have never needed to learn. However, studying abroad in the U.S. gave me an opportunity to think about all cultures I have experienced since every experience in here was new for me. Therefore I was extremely nervous when I got here at first, but I started to enjoy every new experience here.

Although I have some troubles with speaking English since it is my second language, I still love to share each classmate’s cultural experience; hopefully I can also share what I have experienced in different cultures and I am really looking forward to study another cultures.

(I tried to find a picture I took in Korea, but I couldn’t find any pictures. The picture is what I took in Jeju Island, Korea :D)
