Our Costa Rica #2 Kit is one of our newer kits, filled with great resources for your classroom. The kit includes a traditional dress, wooden bracelet, coloring and activity school books, tons of food items and labels (including a coconut!), children’s books, teen magazine, crocodile information sheet, newspapers and magazines that are very well-read, postcards, customs declaration form, tourist pamphlets, toy sloth, toy toucan, surf board magnets, futbol scarf and key chain, wooden cross, print image of La Virgen de Los Angeles, images of festival masks, small flag, coins, towel of the map and flag of Costa Rica, an oxcart representation, and rocks from the beach.

Liz Bucrek is the Program Manager for Carolina Navigators, and helps to provide K-16 teachers and students with global education resources created by Carolina students who have international expertise.

She has over 12 years of experience in the field of education. Liz has worked as a secondary French and Spanish teacher, as an instructional coach, and as the Director of the Academy of International Studies at Carrboro High School.

Originally from Michigan, Liz has studied abroad in France, taught English in Spain, and traveled throughout the US, Europe, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Asia. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and her Master’s Degree at NC State University.

This was Liz’s first trip to Costa Rica. Liz collected some of the items for this Culture Kit while traveling there in 2015. She got ideas for what to buy for the kit from a teacher in NC originally from Costa Rica.
