I am a graduate student in the Classics department at UNC. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Classical Archaeology. In July/August 2015, I had the privilege of traveling to Greece thanks to the Pre-Dissertation Travel Award from the Center for Global Initiatives (CGI). In my dissertation, I will be writing about the cemeteries and the burial customs of early Greece, including the early cemeteries of Athens. This award allowed me to formulate my dissertation topic, select my case studies for further research, examine the artifacts on display at museums, and dig through the archives behind the scenes. Most importantly, it helped me establish important contacts in Athens for my dissertation research next year.
