Ly Nuin: I am an African, African American and Diaspora Studies major and an Asian Studies minor. I was born in Greensboro, North Carolina. I traveled for the first time outside of the U.S. for this project and will be returning by the end of this year to continue studying the Koho community and strengthening my social and political understanding of Vietnam, I really enjoyed how common it was to encounter fresh fruit and vegetables and the scenery throughout Vietnam was amazing!
H'Abigail Mlo: I am a Human Development and Family Studies major and Asian Studies minor at UNC. I was born in Greensboro, North Carolina and lived there my whole life before I moved to Chapel Hill for school. The summer of 2018 was my third time visiting Vietnam, but my first time traveling through the country for a research project. My favorite memory from the trip was being able to spend time with my extended family and eating a lot of yummy (and affordable!) street food.
Phun H: I am a Public Policy and Asian Studies major. I am Bunong, and was born in Dak Mil, Vietnam. I have lived in North Carolina for most of my life. I love my community and culture and I am also very interested in other cultures around the world, especially other indigenous communities in Southeast Asia! I really love to travel, explore, and try new foods.
