Your students will love this kit! It has a boys’ “djelleba”, and a girls’ “kaftan” for them to try on (~kid’s size 10). Other fun items include a Berber flag scarf, a school notebook, the book “The Butter Man”, Disney “Brave” book in Arabic, a tea pot, currency, a newspaper, and actual sand from the Sahara desert! They will also enjoy seeing a mini “tangine”, a “hand of Fatima” and a shark tooth fossil from the Sahara.

Liz Bucrek is the Program Manager for Carolina Navigators, and helps to provide K-16 teachers and students with global education resources created by Carolina students who have international expertise. She started working in the field of education in 2003. Liz has worked as a secondary French and Spanish teacher, as an instructional coach, and as the Director of the Academy of International Studies at Carrboro High School.
Originally from Michigan, Liz has studied abroad in France, taught English in Spain, and traveled throughout the US, Europe, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Asia. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and her Master’s Degree at NC State University. This was Liz’s first trip to a country in Africa. She went to Morocco with a group of K-12 educators during the summer of 2016. A Navigators intern, Alexis Strang, that also studied in Morocco, assisted Liz in writing the kit item descriptions.
