Lauren is a senior Environmental Science student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is planning on pursuing a dual M.D./M.P.H. after graduation. She has had extensive international experience in Europe, the Dominican Republic and now Uganda. During the summer of 2010, Lauren traveled to Uganda and worked in the capita, Kampala, for two months. During her time there, Lauren worked for a non-profit women’s development group working on grant writing, project proposals and personal intern projects. She had time to travel around the country and was privileged to take part in a number of traditional Ugandan ceremonies and experiences. Lauren hopes to link her experiences abroad with her life and pursuits in the Chapel Hill community through activities such as Carolina Navigators and other outreach programs.
